Organization Overview
Conga Kids is dedicated to enhancing social and emotional well-being through dance education. Based in Los Angeles County and Orange County, we engage 4th and 5th grade students with the vibrant dances of the African Diaspora. Our curriculum, including Merengue, Cumbia, Samba, Rumba, Salsa, Jazz, and Hip Hop, reaches over 25,000 students annually through in-school, after-school, summer school, and community-based programs.
Position Summary
As the Grant Writer, you will manage all aspects of the grant application process and administration. This includes prospect identification, proposal writing, budget development, and reporting. Additionally, you will contribute content for appeals, annual reports, and special projects. Your role is pivotal in securing funding from corporations, foundations, and government entities to support existing programs and foster organizational growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and nurture relationships with current grant partners.
- Manage data entry, monitoring, and tracking of grant activities.
- Secure new grant funding while ensuring compliance with existing grants.
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with Conga Kids’ initiatives.
- Develop comprehensive grant proposals, including project details, budgets, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary information for proposals.
- Serve as a liaison with funding agencies and oversee proposal follow-ups.
- Maintain organized records of grant schedules and submissions.
- Stay informed about grant application best practices and funding trends.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Media, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing or related fundraising activities.
- Proven track record of securing grants from local, state, federal, corporate, and foundation sources.
- Strong understanding of grant application processes and funding cycles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment
This role offers a blend of sedentary work and occasional physical tasks such as walking and lifting. Flexibility to work remotely or in a corporate office setting is essential.
