About the Role
As a Payroll Tax Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients’ tax accounts are accurately and promptly set up. You’ll collaborate with clients and federal, state, and local agencies to manage tax accounts effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Setup and Maintain Tax Account Portal Access: Ensure seamless access to tax account portals.
- Work with Agencies: Obtain or verify tax IDs, frequencies, rates, and account statuses.
- Manage Tax Accounts: Set up and close state and local tax accounts for clients.
- Register New Tax Accounts: Handle the registration process for new and existing clients.
- Reconcile Tax Amounts: Partner with federal, state, and local jurisdictions to reconcile tax amounts for terminated clients and handle fund returns/drafts.
- Assist with Special Projects: Participate in special projects, including quarter-end and year-end processing.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Experience: 1+ years of payroll tax filing experience.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with U.S. local, state, and federal payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Skills: Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Preferred Experience: Knowledge of the SaaS/software industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Discretion: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with utmost discretion.
- Deadline Management: Ability to meet and exceed strict deadlines while managing a high volume of clients.
